Celebration of World Contraception Day and CME by Fertility Regulation & MTP Subcommittee of BOGS

BOGS celebrated World Contraception Day by organizing a CME on Contraception on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at "Pratishruti”, AQ-10/3, Sector-V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata - 700091.

Chief Guest wasDr Siddhartha Neogi, Director of Health Services, Govt. of WB.

Guest of Honour wasDr Sanghamitra Ghosh, National President, Indian Public Health Association, Working as CMO(SG) as MO I/C Family Welfare Centre, Command Hospital (Eastern Command) Kolkata and Dr Saswati Nag, DADHS (P&D), State Programme Officer Family Planning.

Dr Bula Bhadra, Ret'd Professor of Sociology, University of Calcutta spoke on “Women Empowerment and Contraceptive Use”. The Chairpersons for the session was Dr Biswajyoti Guha, Dr Partha Mukhopadhyay, Dr Pranati Sinha.

Dr Saswati Nag spoke on “Situation of Teenage Pregnancy in WB” and Dr Vandana Bhatia, Health Specialist, UNICEF, West Bengal spoke on “Linkages of Teenage pregnancy with Maternal and Newborn Outcomes”. The Chairpersons for the session were Dr Alok Basu and Dr Pradip Mukherjee.

This was followed by a Panel discussion on “Contraception across Age Class and Situations” which was moderated byDr Shyamal Sett and Dr Poushali Sanyal. The panelists were Dr Chinmoy Kumar Bose, Ex-President, FPAI, Kolkata, Dr Jyotsna Ghosh, Senior Medical Officer-in Charge, Parivar Sewa Sansthan (PSS), Dr Lovely Agarwal, Ms Shyamali Mukherjee, Senior Manager in Charge, Training, PSS, Dr Sunabha Kumar Ghosh, Dr Tamanna Hossain.

A total of 57 members attended the programme.
