1st Dr Mahamaya Sarkar Memorial Oration, Clinical Meeting and CME by Medical Education and Research Subcommittee
The programme was held on 16.09.2023 at E-Class Room, Academic Building, NRS Medical College, Kolkata.
It was started by Dr Sebanti Goswami, Honorary Clinical Secretary BOGS.
The Principal of NRS Medical College, Dr Pit Baran Chakraborty, was the Guest of Honour and was felicitated.
At first there was a Clinical Meeting where Dr Pritam Dey, 2nd year PGT O&G NRSMCH, presented a case on ‘Siamese Twin – an Unusual Complication’. It was chaired by Dr Abinash Chandra Ray and Dr Seetha Ramamurthy Pal .
The 1st Dr Mahamaya Sarkar Memorial Oration was started with a welcome address by Dr Mousumi De Banerjee, President BOGS, where she presented a video filmed on 13.09.2023 at the residence of Dr Mahamaya Sarkar. It showed Dr Mousumi De Banerjee inviting Dr Ajit Kumar Sarkar, husband of Dr Mahamaya Sarkar, to the programme on behalf of BOGS. Dr Ajit Kumar Sarkar had taken initiative for this oration. He showered his blessings and handed over the picture of Dr Mahamaya Sarkar to team BOGS in the video.
The CV of Dr Mahamaya Sarkar was read by Dr Sebanti Goswami.
The orator was Prof. Gita Ganguly Mukherjee, Past President BOGS, and her topic was ‘Born Too Soon – Prevention’. Her resume was read by Dr Jayita Chakraborty, Honorary Secretary BOGS. The oration was chaired by Dr Mousumi De Banerjee and Dr Jayita Chakraborty.
Dr Ajit Kumar Sarkar was present during the oration. Also present were his son in law, Dr Kushagradhi Ghosh, Past President BOGS, and Mr Sukumar Ghosh, father of Dr K Ghosh.Many students of Dr Mahamaya Sarkar came to pay respect. Parents of Dr Sushmita Chattopadhyay, Member, Managing Committee, BOGS attended to pay homage as indebted patients once saved heroically by Dr Mahamaya Sarkar.
Dr Gita Ganguly Mukherjee was felicitated at the end of her oration.
Dr Ajit Kumar Sarkar was felicitated by BOGS and he showered his blessings again while speaking down the memory lane. BOGS also felicitated Mr Sukumar Ghosh.This emotional event created history and will be etched in the memories of all for long.
Following the oration, a CME was conducted by the Medical Education and Research Subcommittee, BOGS. Dr Sukumar Barik delivered an informative talk on ‘Getting Best Out of Conference’. It was chaired by Dr Avijit Ghosh and Dr Runa Bal. Dr Asish Kumar Mukhopadhyay and Dr Soma Basak moderated an interactive and interesting panel on ‘How to Make an Effective Presentation’. The panelists were Dr Anumita Chandra, Dr Chandrachur Konar, Dr Debraj Basu, Dr Lothika S S, Dr Priyanka Pipara, Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhattacharyya and Dr Siddhartha Majumder.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Mahua Bhattacharya, Joint Clinical Secretary BOGS. It was attended by more than 90 delegates.
