Workshop on Rising CS Rates - Addressing Concerns
Workshop on Rising CS Rates - Addressing Concerns was organized by The Bengal Obstetric and Gynaecological Society & UNICEF Office for West Bengal on December 22, 2018 at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. Around 100 people were present and actively participated in the programme.
The program started with the lectures delivered by Dr Evita Fernandez, on “Role of Midwifery in Regulating CS rates”, Dr N Palaniappan on “Maternal Request for CS”, Dr Krishnendu Gupta, on “Robson’s Criteria for Classification of CS” and Dr S Shantha Kumari, on “Concerns of Rising CS rates – the ICOG Perspective”.
A debate session was held where the motion was “Doctors should not be primarily blamed for the rising CS rates”. Dr Biswajyoti Guha, spoke “for” the motion and Dr Chaitali Datta Ray, spoke “against” the motion.
A panel discussion on “Barriers in Reducing CS Rates with a focus on the Private Sector” was organized. Moderators were Dr Bhaskar Pal & Dr Basab Mukherjee while panelists included Dr Kaninika Mitra, Health Specialist, UNICEF, Dr Jaideep Malhotra, President FOGSI, Dr Dibyendu Banerjee, President Elect BOGS, Dr Dilip Kumar Dutta, Chairperson, MMR, IMA HQ, Ms Bandana Das, Advisor, SOMI, Dr Mousumi Nandi, President, IAP Bengal, Dr Anand Sharma, Anaesthetist, Dr Shyamal Sett, Medicolegal Expert and Ms Hetal Ashar, Sr Manager, Fortis Kolkata.
