World Population Day 2018
On 11th July 2018, the society celebrated the World Population Day 2018 at Hyatt Regency. After a short introduction by the President, Director of Health Services, Govt. of West Bengal, Dr.Ajoy Chakraborty delivered a keynote address on the progress made and challenges ahead in the field of family planning at the state level. This was followed by a brief press meet before breaking for lunch.
After lunch, a CME was held after which consisted of two symposia and two panel discussions of different aspects of population stabilization and family planning. Representatives from GHS, FPAI, IPAS, PSS, PSI, Abt Associates, ASHA, CINI and PFI participated in the scientific program. Other representatives from Swayam, Saathii, PHSI, DKT India and WRA India also attended the event.
The program ended with an industry session by Pfizer who contributed to the funding for the program. IPAS was also helpful in generating funds for the event. The final attendance was around 125 including around 25 members from public health organizations and the media.
It was a nice program to showcase BOGS to many Public Health Partners. We look forward to developing strategic alliances with many of them in the future.
