Abhaya Day,9th August 2026

The Bengal Obstetric and Gynecological society observed Abhaya day on 9 th August at STADEL from 10AM . The program comprised of two panel discussion.
The first one was on"VAD: Incidence and Impact"moderated by Dr. Chaitali Datta Ray and
 Dr. Susmita Chattopadhyay
The panelists were Mr. Biswajit Das (Bartaman Patrika),Dr Dipanwita Banerjee,Dr. Juhi Neogi, Dr. Parag Baran Pal (FMT - Forensic Medicine & Toxicology), Dr. Roshmi Chattopadhyay,Dr. Saptarshi Chatterjee (MSVP, RGK),Ms. Ushosee Ghosh (Dy. Nursing Superintendent, SSKM)

The second one was on "VAD: Role of State and Judiciary" 
The moderator was Dr. Shyamal Sett. Panelists were Ms. Athena De ,Advocate Mrinalini Majumder,Ms. Samapti Banerjee (Inspector in Charge, Centre of Training on Social Defense and Community Policing, SVSPA, WB),Mr. Somit Sengupta (Senior Journalist),Dr. Shreya,Judge Suranjan Kundu, Ms. Yashabanti Sreemany (Former Member, WBCPCR)

This was followed by a short play depicting the scenarios leading to VAD and the perception of the doctors. The program ended with a press meet
