BOGS ROUND OF USHA KRISHNA QUIZ- 2018
The President of BOGS Prof Sudhir Adhikari started the proceedings by welcoming all, and mentioning how all India champions have on many occasions come from our society.
There were 25 teams from all the Medical colleges in Kolkata. The preliminary round was conducted by Dr Basab Mukherjee, Hony Secretary BOGS, and was in the form of questions with written answers. These answer scripts were then corrected by the senior BOGS members present. The four teams with the highest scores proceeded to the main rounds.
Dr Biswajyoti Guha, Clinical secretary BOGS initiated the ‘Mains’ following which Dr Basab Mukherjee recapitulated on his “romance with quizzing”. The rules were explained to the teams after they had been seated as per lottery. The ten rounds were conducted by the Quizmaster team which consisted of Dr Basab Mukherjee, Dr Sebanti Goswami, Dr Biswajyoti Guha, Dr Ramprasad Dey, Dr Susmita Chattopadhyay and Dr Chaitali Datta Ray, while score and time were kept by Dr Seetha Ramamurthy Pal and Dr Alpana Chhetri respectively.
The audience (both junior as well as senior) participated enthusiastically in the audience questions, for which they were rewarded with chocolates. The final results were declared by the President BOGS in reverse order. The 3rd runner up team consisted of Dr Anwesha Chakraborty and Dr Sudakshina Panja from NRS Medical College. The 2nd runner up team consisted of Dr Debarati Saha and Dr Neelu Singh from IPGMER, Kolkata. The 1st runner up team consisted of Dr Samik Sanyal and Dr Disharee Das from IPGMER, Kolkata.
The winning team consisted of Dr Seema Das and Dr Shreemanti Bhattacharyya from Medical College, Bengal. These four teams were given certificates of merit while all participants received certificates of participation during the valedictory from the President BOGS. Finally, the society quiz coordinator gave the vote of thanks and requested all the juniors to participate in the quiz again next year.
