37th Dr. Chunilal Mukherjee Memorial Oration

Team BOGS 25-26 organised the 37th Dr Chunilal Mukherjee Memorial Oration on Monday, 22nd September, 2025 at Stadel, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

The president Dr M M Samsuzzoha welcomed the audience.

As per tradition the oration was introduced by Hony Clinical Secretary, Dr Susmita Chattopadhyay and the Orator was introduced by the Hony Secretary Dr Tulika Jha.

The orator was Prof Jane Hirst who has worked extensively in India specially in the communities in Telengana and Chattisgarh and has done research on Digital tools and AI and how it may help pregnant women.

She spoke on "Digital and AI Tools to close gaps in Maternal Care in India".

The Oration was preceded by a talk by Dr Mandira Dasgupta who aptly spoke on "The Story behind India's Progress in reducing Maternal Mortality ". The Chairpersons for the session was Dr Partha Mukherjee and Dr Sudip Chakraborty.

There was an innovative panel discussion on "Maternal Safety Reimgined: Lessons, Challenges and the way Forward."

This session was moderated by Dr Basab Mukherjee and Dr Jayita Chakrabarti.

The very interactive panel consisted of Prof Jane Hirst as an expert, Dr Sanjib Dutta, Dr Queen Aditya, Dr Nandini Chakraborty Bhattacharyya and Dr Biswajyoti Guha.

Total number of attendees were 75.
