East Zone VPCON 2025 A FOGSI National Conference

The East Zone VPCON 2025 was held on April 18-20, 2025 at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata. Dr Shyamal Sett and Dr Basab Mukherjee were the Organizing Chairpersons and Dr Amit Basu and Dr Jayita Chakrabarti were the Organising Secretaries. It was a scientific extravaganza with workshops, keynote lectures, guest lectures, symposia, panels and Oration mixed with cultural excellence. The conference was awarded 15 ICOG credit points

There were 10 FOGSI workshop committees who came to participate namely No To Violence, Sexual Medicine and STI, Endocrinology, Safe Motherhood, Adolescent Health, Genetics and Fetal Medicine, Endoscopy, Infertility, Vaginal Surgery and Urogynecology Committees.

The main scientific session had 10 guest lecture and 9 symposia, 10 keynote lectures delivered by Past Presidents and President Elect of FOGSI, Presidential Oration,10 panel discussions, and 11 industry lectures. In the competitive free communications section, there were 11 case reports, 25 free papers and 32 posters.

In the case reports section, Dr Oindrila Mondal of Medical College, Kolkata won the special appreciation prize. Dr Pema L Bhutia of IPGMER & SSKM won the second prize and Dr Shachi Srivastava of Medical College, Kolkata was awarded the first prize for her presentation of “A Rare Case of Bicytopenia with Antepartum Haemorrhage (Evan’s Syndrome) in a 20-Year-Old Female – Diagnosis and Management”.

In the E-posters category, Dr Mrityunjoy Mondal and Dr Debasmita Mandal, both from Medical College, Kolkata won special appreciation prizes. The third & second prizes were awarded to Dr Atreyee Choudhury of IGG MCH, Nagpur and Dr Rupsa Mukhopadhyay of KPC Medical College, Kolkata respectively. Dr Nayanika Banerjee of RKMSP, VIMS won the first prize for her case “Granny Lost Her Cool: A Rare Case”.

In the oral free papers category, Dr Angana Das of ESI, Joka & Dr Nayanika Banerjee of RKMSP, VIMS, Kolkata won the special mention prize and third prize, respectively. Dr Kirti Chaudhary of Tata Motors Hospital, Jamshedpur was awarded the second prize and the first prize was won by Dr Ariba Akhtar of RKMSP, VIMS for her paper titled “A Comparative Study of FetoMaternal Outcome in Pregnant Women with Pruritus at Two Different Cut-Off Levels of Total Serum Bile Acids”.

 

The presidential oration was delivered by FOGSI President Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar and the oration topic was “34 Years of Litigation Free Practice”.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The chief guest for the occasion was Srimat Swami Prajnatmanandaji Maharaj and the Guest of Honor was Dr Biman Chakraborty.

There were cultural programs on 18th & 19th April 2025. On April 18 evening, more than 30 members of the society performed songs (solo and duets), dances (solo and group) and recitation. Around 100 delegates attended and enjoyed the lively evening.

On the evening of 19th April 2025, the nationally acclaimed singer, Ms Ankita Bhattacharyya, mesmerized the crowd with her soulful melodies for nearly one hours and left the audience spellbound. Around 100 delegates attended and enjoyed the lively evening.

The total attendance was 418 and 84 national faculty participated in the conference.
